Description

Sourdough Discard Biscuits are a delightful way to use leftover sourdough starter, creating flaky and flavorful biscuits that are perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the sourdough discard and milk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut into biscuits.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs or cheese to the dough.
  • These biscuits can be frozen before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
