Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert sticks into the tops.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring, and cook until it reaches the hard crack stage (300°F or 150°C).
- If desired, add food coloring to the mixture and stir well.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before dipping the apples.
- Dip each apple into the candy mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
- Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
