Description

Delicious and crispy homemade mozzarella sticks that are perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cheese sticks by cutting the mozzarella into even sticks.
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each cheese stick in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Freezing the cheese sticks helps prevent them from melting too quickly while frying.
  • Feel free to add your favorite spices to the breadcrumb mixture for extra flavor.
  • These can also be baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier option.
