Description

Deliciously spooky red velvet cupcakes perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting
  • Red gel food coloring (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with the batter.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
  8. Frost with cream cheese frosting and drizzle with red gel food coloring for a bloody effect.
