Description

A delicious and hearty French onion pot roast made in a crock pot, perfect for flavorful meals.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, sear the roast on all sides until browned.
  3. Place the sliced onions and minced garlic in the bottom of the crock pot.
  4. Transfer the seared roast to the crock pot on top of the onions.
  5. In a bowl, mix the beef broth, French onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce, then pour over the roast.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the meat is tender.
  7. Once cooked, shred the meat and serve with the onions and broth.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms to the crock pot.
  • Serve with crusty bread for dipping in the broth.
  • This dish can be made a day ahead and reheated for convenience.
